What kind of tissue comprises the bulk of this specimen? Do not
answer hastily, and return to this point in case you are mistaken.
Examine (carefully!) the entire circumference of this specimen.
Which surfaces are cut, and which (if any) are natural?
- What kinds of tissue comprise the uncut surfaces of this specimen?
Does this look like a mucosa? If so, of what organ?
- Consider the various internal surfaces of the body -- mucosal (lined
by epithelium), serosal (lined by mesothelium), intimal (lined by
endothelium), other (CNS ventricles, joint capsules, etc.) Which
does this most resemble?
Now return to the bulk of the specimen and reconsider its appearance.
