The source for this specimen should be obvious (and confidently so), provided you are familiar with the organ it represents.
- Note the texture (1) that occupies most of this specimen.
- What kind of epithelium lines the many small spaces of this specimen?
- Note the prominent feature (2), a tube lined by epithelium supported by a fairly thick wall.
- What kind of epithelium lines this tube?
- What other tissues comprise its wall?
- Note the even-larger tube (3), with several distinct tissue types in its wall.
- What kind of epithelium lines this tube?
- What other tissues comprise its wall?
- Note other tubular features (4).
- You should be able to distinguish at least three distinct types of tubular structure on this specimen. Veins and arteries, of course, and what else?
