Curvilinear cords of chief cells characterize the parathyroid. (Pancreatic islets have a similar texture, reflecting a similar endocrine function, but each lobe of the parathyroid is much larger than a typical pancreatic islet.) Capillaries are frequent but inconspicuous among the cords.
