Hints for Slide CRR 03.

The source for this specimen should be obvious (and confidently so), provided you are familiar with the organ it represents.

  • Note that the entire specimen consists of acidophilic fibrous material.
    • Find regions where the fibers have been cut in cross section.
    • Find other regions where the fibers have been cut in longitudinal section.
    • What tissue elements give the appearance of acidophilic fibers?
    • What special features distinguish these different fibrous tissue elements?
    • Which of these comprises most of this specimen?

  • Note the four sides of this specimen (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4).
    • Which of these represent cut surfaces (where surgical removal occurred)?
    • Which of these are natural surfaces?
    • Which represents the outside surface of the organ?  (How can you tell?)
    • Which represents the inside surface of the organ?  (How can you tell?)

No more hints.
