Hints for Slide CRR 09.
- Look at the specimen without your microscope.
- Note the size.
- Note that the specimen consists of at least two distinct "lumps". This is a pair of similar, very small organs.
- Under the microscope . . .
- Note that each of these organ is outlined by a thin, acidophilic boundary layer.
- Note the composition of the parenchyma.
- Each little organ is packed with very many small cells with round nuclei.
- Near the periphery of each organ are small patches (1) where these small cells comprise a paler area surrounded by more densely-packed cells.
- In the central region of each organ (2), the texture is quite different but still contains very many small cells with round nuclei.
- Among the various organs of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and renal systems, which ones have features consistent with observations above?
Hints on the next page are a bit more pointed. Don't look unless you are stuck.
