Adrenal Cortex, zona reticularis
Notes
This image shows the irregular network of steroid-secreting cells which form the zona reticularis of the adrenal cortex. (The adrenal medulla barely appears in the extreme upper left.)
Note that the parenchymal cells have round nuclei and boxy, polyhedral shape, with more eosinophilic cytoplasm than cells in zona fasciculata. In contrast, the endothelial cells lining the sinusoids have flattened nuclei and inconspicuous cytoplasm.
