Adrenal Cortex, zona glomerulosa
Notes
This image shows the knots of steroid-secreting cells which form the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex. (Fibrous connective tissue of the capsule appears on the far right.)
Note that the parenchymal cells have round nuclei and boxy, polyhedral shape, with conspicuous and vacuolated cytoplasm. In contrast, the endothelial cells lining the sinusoids have flattened nuclei and inconspicuous cytoplasm.
