Sweat Gland in Skin

This sweat gland, located deep in skin, is surrounded by fibrous connective tissue of the dermis above and adipose connective tissue of the hypodermis below.

Sweat glands typically appear as clusters of several round or oval profiles, as shown here.  Each profile represents a section across the twisted tubule which comprises the gland.

The glandular tubule itself consists of cuboidal epithelium.

Cells comprising the duct, or conducting portion of the tubule, are usually stained more intensely than those comprising the secretory portion of the tubule.
