Subcutaneous adipose tissue occupies much of the lower half of this image. The upper half shows largely fibrous connective tissue with several embedded hair follicles and sweat glands. (To see the sweat gland near lower left at higher magnification, click on one of the thumnails to right.)
Epidermis and most of the dermis lie upwards, outside this field of view.
