Testis, seminiferous tubules

Notes

The testis consists primarily of seminiferous tubules enclosed within a tough, fibrous capsule, the tunica albuginea.  Connective tissue septa (not included in this micrograph) extend from the tunica albuginea to divide the testis into lobules.

The complex appearance of the tubule epithelium results from the presence, in addition to columnar epithelial Sertoli cells, of germ cells undergoing meiosis.
