Vas deferens   and   ejaculatory duct

The vas deferens is a specialized duct, a muscular tube which carries sperm cells from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct. 

The muscular wall of the vas is remarkably thick in proportion to the diameter of the lumen.  The muscle is organized indistinctly into three layers -- inner and outer layers of mostly longitudinal smooth muscle fibers and a middle layer of mostly circular fibers.

The lumen of the vas is lined by a mucosa consisting of a lamina propria together with a secretory, pseudostratified columnar epithelium with apical stereocilia, like that lining the epididymis. 

From the junction of the vas with the seminal vesicle, the ejaculatory duct continues through the prostate to the urethra.  The ejaculatory duct lacks a thick muscular wall, but has a mucosa similar to that of the vas.
