Notes

The stomach surface epithelium shown here consists uniformly of surface mucous cells, in contrast to that of intestine which consists of absorptive cells with scattered goblet cells.

(The epithelial structures at the bottom of the image are also surface epithelium, as the plane of section cut several adjacent gastric pits.)
